Winter Handicap Fours 2010

::Local Rules::

These Rules are to be read in conjunction with the details on the original advertising sheet for the Winter Fours.

  1. The competiton will be a round-robin format comprising 15 Round games plus 2 weeks of finals;

    Week 1 - semi-finals
    Week 2 - a grand final and divisional playoffs.

  2. Play is to start at 12:30pm and end at 4:00pm when a bell will be rung and any games still in progress will end with the completion of the end in progress.

  3. If rain or other adverse weather conditions delay or stop play, at least 15 ends must have been completed for the result of the game to count.

  4. Handicaps for each team (4 players) in each game are to be determined by adding the individual handicaps of the participating players. Total team handicaps ending in 0.5 or greater are to be rounded up to the next whole number. Handicaps ending in in less than 0.5 are to be reduced to the lower whole number. Games are to start with the team handicaps as the score.

  5. Calculation of team handicaps is to be shown on the scorecard by entering the player's handicap with his/her name on the front of the scorecard along with the total team handicap as calculated by following rule 4. The completed scorecard is to be handed in to the competition organisers at the end of the game.

  6. Penalties for not complying with rules 4 & 5 are as follows;

    1. Non return of scorecard - forfeit of points for that game.

    2. Failure to enter team on scorecard - forfeit of handicap and the deduction of 1 point from the corrected game result.

    3. Faliure to enter handicaps on scorecard - forfeit of handicap.

    4. Error in calculation of team handicap - if less not corrected;
      if greater, handicap reduced by twice the error.

  7. Substitutes with an approved handicap may be used if listed team members are unavailable. Substitutes may not skip.

  8. Points will be allocated as follows:

    Win 3; Draw 2; Loss 1; Forfeit 0.

    If teams finish the Round stage of the competition on equal points, aggregate shots up will be used to determine final positions.

  9. To participate in finals a player must have played in at least 4 Round games.

Handicaps

Individual handicaps are to be determined by the division that the majority of games were played in during the 2009/10 Pennant season after Christmas 2009.

* The Mixed division handicap comprises both Mixed A & Mixed B division players.
^ Howrah Twilight Bowlers and players who did not play in the 09/10 Pennant season will be given a Mixed classification handicap.

Inclement Weather Conditions

Washouts - Prior to Commencement

In the event that games are abandoned prior to the commencement of games, each team will be awarded 2 points.

If games are abandoned prior to the commencement, it is preferred that the decision to abandon is by the consensus of the members playing. If a consensus cannot be reached, two or more members of the Committee of Management and/or Men's Sub-committee present will make the decision.

Washouts - After commencement

In the event of adverse weather conditions after play has commenced, two or more members of the Committee of Management and/or Men's Sub-committee present will make the decision to abandon play.

In the event that play is abandoned, 15 ends must be completed to constitute a game. When 50% or more of games are played points shall be allocated for all completed games. For those games not completed, teams will be awarded 2 points each.

Special Note

Due to the 2010 Winter Handicap Fours competitiion being reduced in length by 1 week, Rounds 1 & 2 of the competition will be played in the first week - 22nd May 2010.

Two games of 10 ends each will be played with the total team handicap for each team reduced by 50% for each game.

Game 1 (Round 1) will commence at 12:30pm.

Game 2 (Round 2) will commence at 2:30pm.

Game 1 will be concluded (if the 10 ends have not been completed) with the ringing of the bell at 2:20pm and the finish of the current end in progress at that time.

Game 2 will be concluded (if the 10 ends have not been completed) with the ringing of the bell at 4:20pm and the finish of the current end in progress at that time.

From week two - May 29th 2010 - the competition will revert to 1 game of 21 ends per week commencing at 12:30pm.
